1 - Annual Meeting News!

Together We're Better - that was the message conveyed at the first combined annual meeting of Aliant Credit Union and Southeast Nebraska Credit Union held Thursday, April 16, 2009, at the Sesostris Shrine Hall on Hwy 77 & Saltillo Road. Over 150 members and guests celebrated the start of our continued success.

Due to the merger, this year there was a special election to establish staggered terms for the Board positions. Elected to one year terms were Mike Arnold, Jeff Chambers, Teri Hubka and Amy Tipton. Elected to two year terms were Deb Keyes, Mary Lohmeyer and Darin Olson. Elected to three year terms were Bob Biel, Bryan Becker, Arlen Nies and Larry Weishahn.

Elections for the Supervisory Committee were also held to establish the same staggered terms. Elected to fill the three Supervisory Committee positions were Dick Leseberg, 1-year term; Tim Eklund, 2-year term; and Denise Ackerman, 3-year term.

Please view a listing of your credit union's Board of Directors at About Us or under the heading at the top of this page.

2 - Exciting Debit Card News

The Credit Union has made some exciting changes to our debit card processes. Most importantly, debit cards are now processed in "real time". This means that all balances are being reported throughout the day instead of just once a day. If you make a deposit in the morning, these funds, in most cases, will be available for use or withdrawal immediately. Debit card transactions and ATM withdrawals against your checking account will be posted sooner -- immediately in many cases, instead of that night or the next day.

Our daily debit card limits have also been adjusted. ATM withdrawals are limited to $510 per day per debit card. PIN based purchases are limited to $510 per day per card. While signature based purchases are limited to $1,500 per day per account..

And even more exciting is that the credit union joined the Nebraska ATM network - Networks (NETS). This allows members to use their debit card for ATM withdrawals at many Nebraska financial institutions surcharge-free. Most Lincoln credit unions are surcharge - free as well as many Nebraska banks (see the debit card page for options). Please keep in mind that these surcharge free ATMS are subject to change as the charges are at the discretion of the ATM owner.

3 - Welcome Southeast Nebraska Credit Union Members!

December 1, 2008, marked the merger of Aliant Credit Union and Southeast Nebraska Federal Credit Union. Combined we have become the 10th largest credit union in the State of Nebraska.

We are now a $66 million dollar credit union and are 5,100 members strong. Together we will be able to diversify our membership, increase our lending base and offer more services, all the while continuing our great rate structure and member service focus.

In early 2009 we will continue the coordination of programs, procedures and processes. We will introduce student loans, credit cards, real-time debit cards and expanding our surcharge-free ATM availability for the members of Aliant Credit Union. Higher dividends rates, lower loan rates, real-time debit cards and surcharge-free ATM availability will be introduced to the Southeast Nebraska Credit Union members. We will announce these products and services as they are implemented. The real-time debit cards and enhanced ATM availability should be functional by the end of January 2009.

Our staff has remained intact at each location and are continuing to conduct our regular financial business as usual with the same hours of operation. We combined the Board and Committees of the two credit unions. Check out the Services link above for all of our products and services and the About Us tab for a complete list of staff, volunteers and locations.

5 - Aliant Credit Union - A Safe, Secure Option for Financial Services.

Consumers are becoming increasingly concerned about the safety and soundness of their money. It is critically important for you to have confidence in Aliant Credit Union and the regulatory safeguards that are in place to help protect you.

Aliant Credit Union has been a safe, sound and conservatively managed financial institution since 1936. Your money deposited in Aliant Credit Union is federally insured by the National Credit Union Administration (NCUA) and backed by the full faith and credit of the United States government. Every member’s account is now federally insured up to $250,000 thanks to recent legislative changes by congress. This change is effective until December 31, 2009, however congress will consider making this coverage permanent during their next session.

In the history of NCUA, not one penny of insured savings has ever been lost by a member of a federally insured credit union. Aliant Credit Union continues to be financially strong, very well capitalized and conservatively managed.

Credit Unions are not-for-profit financial institutions that are owned by their members, directed by volunteer boards and return their earnings back to their membership through lower loan rates, higher deposit rates and lower/fewer fees. To learn more about your insured savings you can visit the National Credit Union Administration’s web site at www.ncua.gov

7 - We're Going Green!

Save paper & time with e-Notices and e-Alerts!

Save paper & time with e-Notices and e-Alerts!

Aliant Credit Union is in the process of adding e-Notices to our online services. Instead of waiting for the mail to receive notices about your account, you will be able to view them online through e-Branch.

We are currently sending e-Notices out for non-sufficient funds notices on checking accounts and will be adding others such as certificate notices in the near future. Once you are signed up, if a notice needs your attention, you will receive a reminder e-mail. You then log in to e-Branch to view the specific notice.

E-Alerts are an e-mail or text message to your cell phone that you can customize to your needs. You can receive daily account balances; when a loan payment is due; when a specific check number clears; when your account balance is near a specific balance or you can set up customizable monthly reminders for any item you choose.

Sign up for these FREE services through e-Branch. That's right, these new options do not cost you anything, plus you can feel good about reducing our use of paper and the impact of transporting and delivering the notices.
